For the love of chocolate and roses!

I’m really trying to figure out what kind of Sweet 16 birthday party to do for my daughter. She has expressed several times that she doesn’t want a party where there will be dancing because she says that her friends don’t dance. They huddle in their little cliques with smirky stares at each other while she dances and enjoys herself all by herself.

She told me that she didn’t want to invite just a few of her close girl friends either because how could she choose which girls to invite and which ones to leave out. Surely someone would have hurt feelings and drama would break out at the most inconvenient embarrassing time!

She has a list of about 65 girls and boys that she wants to celebrate with at a nondancing party with games and food that everyone will have fun at, but what? I’m so lost, because I feel like no matter what I come up with she will have some complaint as she did for the following ideas:

There’s the option of renting a local water park, which includes a huge pool, wade pool, and two water slides, but she didn’t like the idea of it only being for 2 hours at night. She’s too old for a skating party, at the movies no one will be able to talk and cut up, and if they go bowling they will be spread across several lanes. At Logan’s Stake House, they have a party room big enough, but they don’t allow private parties on weekend nights! I can’t win.

Any ideas? I’ll send you chocolate and roses if your idea is something we all agree with!

Kate- You are such a sweet mom. I don't know what she is into but, this was a fun one when I was that age. We went to a park with a hill and had a water party. There were water balloons, squirt guns and water relays. There was also ice blocking. The food was a lot of pizzas and an assortment of sodas, chips and cake. There was a ice cream eating contest. There was also home videos from when the birthday girl was smaller and a picture slide show going. I don't know. It was a LOT of fun and I can't imagine that it was too expensive. When is her birthday. I thought that it wasn't until June. You are a planner!

You could rent a projector and hook it up to a laptop and show a movie on the side of your house or garage door! You can also rent a popcorn machine and one of those hotdog roller machines and cotton candy.
